Brainerd , MN – Wildfires can be devastating, so the Brainerd Fire Department was honored to be selected as one of only six departments in Minnesota to team up with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to introduce Firewise, a new wildland and urban interface protection program. The Brainerd Fire Department has implemented the Firewise program throughout the Brainerd Lakes region, surveying and rating homes where potential wildland fire threats exist. The Brainerd Fire Department also provides homeowners with tips on how to best protect themselves from wildland fires.
The Brainerd Fire Department’s community outreach program provides fire safety and education information to roughly 6,000 people in its 380-square mile Brainerd Lakes response area.
As part of the Hometown Heroes program, Unicel donated $250 to the Brainerd Fire Department.
