Rural Cellular Corporation...Quietly contributing to the communities we serve...
Because the fabric of community is so special in rural areas, we focus attention on being a part of the community. This involvement deepens and strengthens our connection to our customers.
Technology is constantly changing. While young people benefit from advances in technology, they also face many challenges, one of which is cyber bullying – exploiting Internet or cell phone technology to bully others. Unicel has created Stand Up!, a program to educate students and parents about this new, cruel form of bullying and give them tools to recognize and prevent cyber bullying. Unicel is sponsoring a nationally recognized speaker and has also published guides for parents and students.

Unicel honors Hometown Heroes—those who protect us and assist us in emergency situations--each year with celebrations at our Unicel stores. We recognize and pay tribute to fire fighters, first responders, and law enforcement workers.
High School Heroes scholarships are awarded each year to juniors and seniors who volunteer in their communities. Teachers, parents and friends may nominate a student, or students may apply themselves.
Unicel, along with other participating wireless carriers, has partnered with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® to launch Wireless AMBER Alerts, an initiative that gives carriers the ability to forward AMBER Alerts as text messages to subscribers who have opted in to the program. This program helps galvanize 182 million wireless subscribers across the nation in the search for an abducted child.
Every day more than 224,000 wireless phone calls are made to 9-1-1. That is why the VITA™ (Latin for "life") Wireless Samaritan Awards are presented annually to honor people across the United States who used their wireless technology to save lives, stop crime and help others in emergency situations. These individuals exemplify the importance of putting safety first, as well as the crucial role wireless technology can play in emergencies. Unicel is proud to partner with the CTIA to sponsor this program and honor selected individuals.
Unintentional or accidental wireless 911 calls make up an estimated 30-50 percent of the total wireless 911 calls, depending upon time and location. Please review our suggestions for preventing accidental emergency calls.
Over two hundred million Americans use and enjoy cell phones, and we wouldn’t want to be without them. They’re an essential safety device, save us time, and keep us connected with the people that matter to us. Occasionally, however, people may offend others by inconsiderate cell phone behavior.
